Virtual Care
Virtual care allows Veterans, Service members and their families to connect with specialized medical and TBI rehabilitation services from home or from another VA location. Virtual modalities enhance access to specialty polytrauma and TBI clinical services, allowing Veterans to live where they choose without having to travel to receive the care that they need. After inpatient rehabilitation, virtual care can enhance continuity and coordination of care across the continuum of programs and services to help Veterans and Service members transition back to their local communities. For others, virtual care provides a convenient alternative to taking time away from work and family or the need to travel for Veterans and their families challenged by transportation or mobility limitations.
Specialized rehabilitation services using a virtual platform may include physical therapy, occupational therapy, speech-language pathology, kinesiotherapy, recreational and creative arts therapies, assistive technology, and physiatry and other medical specialties. VA virtual care also expands access to TBI evaluations and specialized, comprehensive programming addressing TBI and comorbid conditions.
